On Parliament Hill Wednesday, Member of Parliament Bernard Généreux took part in the 2016 Leucan Shaved Head Challenge to raise money for cancer-stricken children and their families. Mr. Généreux was surrounded by colleagues from the House of Commons, as well as the Honourable Rona Ambrose, Leader of the Official Opposition.
The Leucan Shaved Head Challenge is a major fundraising campaign in which participants put a price on their own heads in order to solicit donations and support children whose body image changes when they lose their hair as a result of chemotherapy. “I have the luxury of choosing, I can go bald voluntarily. Unfortunately, some children don’t have a choice,” commented Mr. Généreux.
Through the generosity of the public, Leucan is able to fund clinical research and provide services to children with cancer, as well as their families.
Mr. Généreux is demonstrating solidarity for all those from the riding of MLKRDL who will be having their heads shaved, either on May 12 at the Centre Bombardier in La Pocatière, or on June 11 at the Bistro Coin du Monde in Montmagny. He is also asking the public to come out in force to encourage them.
It’s not too late to drop off a cash donation or a cheque (made out to Leucan) at Mr. Généreux’s office in Rivière-du-Loup (277 Lafontaine) or Montmagny (6 St-Jean-Baptiste East, Suite 101). You can also donate through his web profile at http://www.webleucan.com/bernardgenereux. His goal is to raise $1,000.
